1) The software is unable connect to my DV-camera or DV-digitizer device using firewire.

Please, install Windows update KB885222 to get improved firewire support.

2) The software is unable to connect to my Sony HDV camera.

Please, install Sony MPEG2-TS Splitter to get Windows HDV device support.
In addition, install Windows update KB885222.
